On Friday, Hannah showed me a spot on her forehead. When I looked at it closely, it seemed like a pimple. I was a bit confused that my 5 year old would have a pimple, but, given my attentive style of parenting, I instantly forgot about it.
The next morning, she woke up with 'pimples' all.over.her.body. Chickenpox pimples, to be precise. Poor kid: she spent the weekend feeling rotten and doing a little itchy dance every hour or so. We dosed her with an oral antihistamine and dabbed an antihistamine cream on her spots. She was sick too - a temperature, a cough and a sore throat.
On Sunday evening, she asked to sleep with me in my bed, "because it'll be more itchy if I'm alone". Later that night, when I came to bed, Hannah sat up in bed and said,
"It's illegal to skateboard naked in the country."
"And back."
And then she went to sleep again.
In the split second that it took me to remember that she'd watched The Simpsons Movie that day, in which there's a memorable scene with Bart skateboarding naked through his town, I believed Hannah to be either very insane, or very sick.
Thankfully, she's neither. Just a little crazy.
Poor baby, I hope she feels better soon. :-(

Sorry to hear your little one has the chicken pox. How funny she would recite the Simpsons movie. My girls are addicted to it right now as well. Sounds like something they would say. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Hope to see you again.

How's she feeling now? Jessamine had coxsackie last weekend, which included a very nasty chicken poxy rash. Benadryl kept the rash down and we kept her slathered in calamine lotion. She was so miserable. :(

Poor kiddo. I'm sure she is better now? Isn't it scary really how TV stays in their minds...even when they are asleep?
